Foods To Avoid

To protect your orthodontic treatment and ensure effectiveness, it's important to be mindful of the foods you consume. Certain foods can cause damage to your braces or aligners and prolong your treatment time. We recommend avoiding hard, sticky, and chewy foods that can exert excessive force on your orthodontic appliances or become trapped, leading to discomfort or difficulty cleaning.

Here are some soft food options: Oatmeal, scrambled eggs, soups, pasta, soft vegetables, mashed potatoes, pancakes, cheese, soft fruits, yogurt, pudding, ice cream, and don't forget a good, old-fashioned milkshake!

Here are some foods that you may want to avoid: Hard candy, nuts, crunchy vegetables, popcorn, chips, pretzels, hard bread, and corn on the cob. Chewy foods, such as gum, jellybeans, licorice, caramel, coffee, and gummies.
